Happy Groundhog's Day....

Wondering what that groundhog will predict.....six more weeks of cold and snow?..... or an early Spring? It doesn't matter because your children's smiles warm my heart each day! Looking forward to starting conferences this Tuesday. Please be prompt for your meeting....I will really try to stick to my allotted time frames(but I do love to talk about your children!) Ask your child about   Farmer Day and about the Groundhog activities we enjoyed today.
The Raffe Report for next week:
Math: Starting Chapter 8: Adding two digit numbers (first without and then with regrouping), continued work with money and creating the same value using different sets of coins
Reading/Writing: biography work (student selected person), reading two different sources/computer source to write notes about the person's life. Later the notes will be turned into an informational piece about their person. We are working on this in groups and as a whole class this week to learn about beginning note taking skills.
Spelling/Word work: Unit 16: ick/ink word patterns, doubling consonents in CVC words before adding an ending
Health: we are beginning to work on our units. This week the focus is on Our Healthy Bodies (preventing germs from spreading, gettting enough sleep etc.)
Science: finished Simple Machines/starting Balance and Weighing the week after next

I can't(we now know/use contractions) believe that it is February already.....where does the time go?
Have a fun-filled weekend!
