Sorry for the break in my blog communication....

I felt very out of touch the last week without the laptop and my ability to quickly check e-mails and send information to all of you....I guess this technology has even begun to creep into my daily fabric! We are busily getting ready for next Thurs.(6/12) and our end of year learning celebration "SALUTE TO THE STATES". I hope you all received the letter about the t-shirt color.  Reminder: We will start on time at 1:45 so please leave time to find parking, sign in at the office and get to the room. All are welcome - there will be refreshments after the students share their learning with all of you!

TOMORROW is the deadline for Field day t-shirts so if you forgot you can still send it in by the morning!
TOMORROW is the last HW packet for second grade, and it is a light one. Just spelling words/sentences and daily reading/math. I have put together materials to send for summer practice and have been talking to the students about how important it is not to lose the skills they have worked so hard to learn! Some light summer practice in all areas - reading, math and writing would be most beneficial to all of them!

Week of 6/9:
Math: finishing up some loose ends in measurement and then a brief glimpse called Step up To third grade (they are excited to see what math awaits them next year)
Writing: poetry - exploring different kinds of poems and what is important to think about when writing a poem
Reading: comprehension passages/independent reading time
Social Studies: the states/our country

We will have a visit on Tuesday from Cathy Brenner, one of the Bethlehem Library Children's librarians to talk about their summer reading program.
I will be having a substitute (Mrs. McGlynn) on Friday for me to do my assessment day for report cards. It will be a low key day since they will have earned it after their performance on Thursday.

As always thanks for your support at home and for all the ways you help your child to grow as students and people!
